Nowadays getting that mortgage to buy a house is so very easy you can do it on your smart phone,
I’m just begging you NOT to do that!
Super Bowl Commercials are a great BUT…
Like many a patriotic American I enjoyed the clever Super Bowl ad inviting everyone alive to apply for a home loan using a few swipes on their phone and a major national institution; it made obtaining a loan look so fun, so easy, surely it’s what the cool kids are doing. Believe me, mortgage lenders are NOT created equally.
Time is of the essence.
The biggest problem with online lenders is that they, do not provide the loan allowing you to buy the house in a timely manner. And while this has been true 100% of the time in my experience, be aware that the online lender will blithely encourage a buyer to “Just get an extension from the seller to close escrow in another thirty days…or forty days…”THIS IS IMPORTANT! Sellers are not obligated to give timeline extensions, thus the house you are buying could easily be sold to another buyer, perhaps for more money, and as for you…will your landlord let you stay where you are and do you really want to unpack all those boxes you spent the past week packing?
